这首歌发表于1962年冬天，原唱为美国乡村女歌手Skeeter Davis，在1963年被评为当年最受欢迎的歌曲。曾经被卡朋特组合、陈百强、苏珊大妈等歌手翻唱。最近一次出现是在影片《后会无期》中，韩寒为其填了中文歌词，由香港歌手邓紫棋演唱。
